I read this in my early 20's and didn't understand much of it. I read it again in my 40s and had a lot of "a-hah!" moments, finding clarity regarding a lot of things that had become consistent with my ever-evolving spiritual world view. I just finished a 3rd reread at 60 and again I wonder if the amazing knowledge and insights in this book will ever become a part of mainstream Western religious thought. Two quotes come to mind: "Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real" -physicist Neils Bohr; and from another 'father of quantum physics' Max Planck, "I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything we regard as existing, postulates consciousness." Beautiful reading. In the search for my own answers managed to find this gem. I have studied Buddhism for almost 10 years and this is by far the extension of what I started to learn in Buddhism about reality and mind. Coming from a catholic background going into meditation and changing the idea of god for a belief in the inner self and mind was extreme. This book pushes you off the edge and challenge you with new ideas about our day to day life.
